Knitting socks is always an option.

Today it's going to be wild, fluffy and maybe a little chaotic – but don't worry, we'll get it done! I grabbed my needles again and knitted a pair of socks. With an Italian cast-on (yes, I swore a bit at the beginning) and a false rib pattern in the round. And you know what? It just looks amazing – especially with brightly colored sock yarn!
So, grab your needles, a coffee or tea, and let's get started! And yes, of course there are videos too – you don't have to go through the drama of the cast-on alone.
The Italian cast-on – what a diva!
Hand on heart: The Italian cast-on is a bit of a diva at first. Picking up stitches? Yeah, that's okay. But then joining it in the round? The first time I tried it, I felt like I'd gotten myself into a nasty knitting exam. But trust me: once you get the hang of it, you'll love it! The cast-on is elastic, looks super professional, and makes for a really beautiful edge.
If you're struggling with it a bit, I've of course recorded the whole thing on video!
False rib in the round – looks fancy, but is easy!
If you haven't tried the false rib pattern yet: you absolutely must! The pattern is super simple, but looks really elegant and works perfectly with colorful sock yarn. And the best part? You don't have to worry about complicated cables or any other frills – it almost knits itself! So you don't have to frantically flip through your notes, I've created a nice chart for you. Simply print it out, save it, or read it directly from the screen, whatever works best for you!

Here are the instructions so you can easily recreate the pattern:
Number of stitches divisible by 4
Round 1: 3 knit, 1 purl
Round 2: 1 purl, 1 knit, *3 purl, 1 knit* (*repeat always), the round ends with 2 purl
And if you prefer visual instructions:
Reinforced sweetheart heel – because we like it sturdy!
What good is the most beautiful sock if the heel is worn out after two weeks? Exactly! That's why I chose the reinforced sweetheart heel. It's not only super comfortable, but also really robust – perfect for everyone who loves their socks and wants to wear them for a long time.
How does it all work? You can see that in my video!
Reinforced toe – because it simply lasts longer!
Of course, a sturdy heel also needs a sturdy toe. This way, the sock not only stays comfortable but also lasts longer. And yes, this is also available in video form so you can take a close look at it.
Perfect fit for your hand-knitted socks
A beautiful sock is great – but a sock that fits perfectly is even better! That's why I wrote a separate blog post about it: Perfect fit for your hand-knitted socks. There's a practical file for your binder where you can enter your measurements like instep, foot length, etc., plus lots of tips on how to make your socks really fit like a glove.

Conclusion: Knitting socks makes you happy and always works!
Knitting socks is pure relaxation for me – especially with colorful yarn and a pattern that is simple but still looks really impressive. If you dare to try the Italian cast-on, experiment with the reinforced sweetheart heel, and knit the reinforced toe, let me know how it went!
