Lazy Tail Method...

Do you know this feeling?

You just want to add a small, pretty highlight to your knitting... and suddenly, a second yarn is trailing across half the project again like a string of Christmas lights with anger management issues.

Or even better: You're knitting a two-colored scarf, proudly finish a single row in the contrast color and – poof – the yarn is at completely the wrong end of the scarf, looking back at you mockingly. Cut it off? Start over? Weave in a gazillion ends later? No thanks!

That is exactly why I’ve come to love my Lazy Tail method.

Because let’s be honest: Some projects look beautiful from the front... and a bit like an emotional knot of cables on the back.

Sometimes you just want to:

• Knit small color accents,
• Add pretty highlights,
• Or incorporate chic stripes

,… WITHOUT feeling like you have to drag the second yarn around the world and back.

What actually is the Lazy Tail method?

In short: It’s my personal way of outsmarting the yarn position when the yarn has stranded itself at the wrong end once again. Instead of swearing, weaving, or reaching for the scissors, the yarn travels back to the starting point in a relaxed and invisible way using a small loop trick (inspired by the Roosemine technique). A lazy yarn (hence "Lazy Tail") that saves itself the arduous trek.

With this technique, the whole process becomes:

• Neater
• More relaxed
• And honestly, much more pleasant to knit

The benefits (or: Why your nerves will love it)

Anything that causes less swearing while knitting is generally an excellent idea. With the Lazy Tail, you get:

• A more even stitch pattern
• Drastically fewer ends to weave in when working stripes
• No thick, bulky floats on the back
• And simply a much happier knitting experience all around
