Registration for Test Knitting or Crocheting

Do you love knitting or crocheting and want to test new patterns before they are published?
Then become part of the Fräulein Gerda test crew 💕
Here you will find all current test projects for which we are looking for creative and reliable testers.

📢 Current Test Project

Project: we are knitting an open slipover with saddle shoulder (name to follow), medium difficulty
Application deadline: June 21, 2026
Start: June 27, 2026
Duration: 6 weeks (submission by August 8, 2026)
Sizes needed: S/M, L/XL, XXL/XXXL

At the very bottom, you will find the questionnaire to participate in the test.

The following is particularly important to me: Testing is a binding collaboration. So that all parties involved know what they are getting into, we work with clear procedures and a test contract. Most of the regulations serve to organize, protect unpublished content, and ensure fair cooperation.

✨ How a Test Project Works

Before a new pattern appears in the shop, it is carefully tried out by selected testers.
Each design is completely reworked once to ensure that the result is exactly what was planned: a beautiful, understandable, and error-free project.

So you help turn an idea into a perfect pattern 💕

🧵 Your Task as a Tester

As a test knitter or test crocheter, you work through a new pattern step by step. You pay particular attention to:

  • Understandability of the pattern
  • Possible errors or ambiguities
  • Correct measurements and execution
  • Completeness of the description
  • Overall knitting/crocheting result

Important: You test the pattern as it is written, not according to your own adjustments.

⏰ Timeline

Each test project has a fixed timeframe.

After your selection, you will receive:

  • the pattern as a pre-release version
  • all important information about the project

👉 Please allow enough time to complete the project within the deadline.

🧶 Yarn & Materials

The required materials vary depending on the project.

In the application, we provide a recommended yarn selection so you have a direct orientation and can plan accordingly.

👉 This recommendation serves as the basis for the test knit / test crochet.

Deviations from the suggested yarn are generally possible, but only after prior consultation with us, to ensure that the test result remains comparable.

After your selection, you will also receive all detailed information on:

  • Yarn weight and composition
  • Recommended needle size
  • Required quantity
  • If applicable, suitable alternatives

💡 This way, you can start well-prepared and achieve the best result.
