The Wanderdüne mini-scarf is the perfect project if you want something quick on your needles that you'll never want to take off. I wanted to capture that relaxed coastal feeling in an accessory that feels light and natural to wear. The pattern simply reminds me of sand drifts with gentle waves running across the fabric. It's a straightforward cable pattern that, while requiring a bit of skill, then flows easily and later brings just the right amount of coziness.
You start with 3 stitches, and through regular increases and later decreases, the two pointed ends are created. You also have the option to personalize your mini-scarf by knitting the iCord edge in a contrasting color afterwards. The link to the video can be found under "Your Pattern".
By the way: In the pattern, I also briefly tell you how you can easily modify the design. If you don't need a scarf right now, you can also knit a matching headband from it or lay the foundation for a large triangular shawl. This way, you can do exactly what you feel like with the pattern.
The Meaning of the Name
Dunes move in waves three to four meters per year, sometimes even many times more. The landscape always looks different, yet it remains the same place. But why the name Wanderdüne (Wandering Dune)? Because these sand mountains are in constant motion. The cable pattern precisely reflects this dynamic. The alternating stitches create a relief that casts new shadows depending on the light. It is the answer to the feeling of walking barefoot through warm dune sand.
