PDF Knitting Pattern
I love it when socks have a secret that you only discover at second glance. The Saint Patrick socks initially appear classic and elegant due to their green jacquard (Fair Isle) pattern. But the real highlight is hidden on the underside: a small shamrock directly on the sole. It's like a personal lucky charm you carry with you every step of the way.
You start with a classic 2x2 rib cuff. For these socks, I once again chose the heart heel because it simply fits me best. However, you also have the option to knit any other heel you prefer. You'll find the video link under "Your Pattern."
The Meaning of the Name
The name is, of course, a declaration of love to Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Green and nature are the colors of the Irish landscape, and the shamrock is a symbol of luck and constancy. I liked the idea that you don't always have to overtly display your luck. Sometimes it's enough to know it's quietly (and softly cushioned) beneath your sole. These are socks for days when you could use an extra dose of "Luck of the Irish."
